Integrative Mental Health Care Practice Prioritizes Communication and Confidentiality with Spruce

As an integrative mental health care practice, Redefining Roots collaborates with clients by providing supportive therapy and medication management utilizing various modalities including psychopharmacology, nutritional supplements, lab testing, and pharmacogenomic testing. They are available to see patients online or in-person. Today we’re profiling Corina Picchiottino, APRN, PMHNP-BC, founder/owner/provider at Redefining Roots.

What kind of work do you do?

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Redefining Roots, an Integrative Mental Health Care practice. At RR we utilize a whole-body focused, patient-centered, and trauma-informed approach to care to provide holistic healing to those struggling with addiction, trauma/PTSD, mood disorders, personality disorders, and perinatal mental health disorders.

How long have you been doing it?

I have been working in the mental health community in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and addiction settings for 8 years. Redefining Roots was founded in February 2020 and officially opened in 2021.

What first brought you to Spruce?

Spruce was highly recommended to me from a fellow private practice colleague. It was the first thing I signed up for when developing my business and the first thing I recommend to others. I prioritize communication and confidentiality with my patients and Spruce helps me maintain both!

How do you use Spruce at work?

Spruce is integral to my everyday workflow. I use it to communicate with patients, securely fax/email, and automate screeners through Spruce Visits. Being able to automate and schedule the screeners also helps me keep close tabs on postpartum moms in between visits.

What is your favorite Spruce feature?

The ability to schedule messages to be sent within my business hours while providing me the flexibility to work when I need to and the automated message responders! Spruce really helps make the boundaries in my practice clear!

What do you like to do most when you’re not working?

When I’m not in clinic, you can find me enjoying the weather (rain or shine) with my husband and 2 dogs, getting grounded on my yoga mat, or snuggled up to a good book (most likely a thriller)!
