The Spruce Dermatology Clinic Is Closing, but Spruce Care Messenger Is Open

For four years, the Spruce Dermatology Clinic has been making affordable, high-quality teledermatologic care accessible to millions of people. Today, we’re making the bittersweet announcement that this service will be ending, as we finish this chapter of the Spruce story. For those of you who know us only through our flagship product, Spruce Care Messenger, don’t worry; that’s not going anywhere.

The time has come for us to close the doors of the Spruce Dermatology Clinic because Spruce Care Messenger is now a superset of our original ideas and product, albeit in a different form factor. It has also come because, as a small team, we can only be our best now by focusing all of our efforts on Care Messenger.

In the two posts below, one from our CEO (Ray) and one from our Medical Director (David), we’re sharing our in-depth reasoning for closing the Spruce Dermatology Clinic, as well as a discussion of the lessons that we learned through running it and a view of what Spruce’s present and future holds.

To the patients and dermatologists who made our Dermatology Clinic great: Thank you for coming on the journey with us, and we hope that you’ll join us for the next chapter, which is already well underway on Care Messenger!
